Lacrosse League Format and Rules Reminders:
- No more than three coaches on team bench for any team.
- Legal Equipment REMINDER: No player shall be permitted to participate at ISP if wearing or using altered or unsafe equipment. Example: cut shoulder pads shall constitute altered and unsafe equipment.
- GAMES WILL NOT BE MADE UP DUE TO WEATHER CANCELLATIONS.
- All Games are 52 minutes in length (26 minute
halves) with a 4 minute half-time. Clock does not stop for anything including time outs. One time out per half. No time outs can be called in the last 5 minutes.
- No overtime. Games can end in a tie until the playoffs.
- In case of an injury clock runs up to 1 minute then the clock is stopped until play can be resumed. If necessary the second half can be shortened to keep on time. If this is done the coaches must be told so they are aware.
- In a close game, if it appears the winning team is stalling or delaying play, it is at the official's discretion to stop the clock and start again on the whistle.
- Games start and end at the assigned time regardless of the arrival of a team. It is the teams responsibility to arrive with enough time to get ready and play. Warm ups are only permitted if there is enough time before a game. Otherwise the clocks starts at the assigned time with or without a whistle.
- No one on the field between games or at timeouts or half time other than players of the current game and they must have helmets on.
- There is a four goal rule (except boys and girls high school). The team losing by 4 or more goals gets the ball instead of a face off.
- Facility rules as posted at www.indoorsportspavilion.com
for lacrosse govern all games. (Click
for rules)
- Home Teams as listed on the schedule page
will wear white, all away teams wear dark.
- If you don't have your reversible jersey
you may not play -- jerseys are available for purchase if you lose / forget
your jersey.
- Any player ejected shall, at a minimum,
be precluded from playing in their next league game.
- ISP does not provide coaches for any team.
- FORFEIT RULE: If you do not
have the required number of players in attendance, you can play
short handed and not forfeit, but if any other players are used
and are not on your roster, it is an automatic forfeit. Teams
with the adequate number of players are not required to play short
handed, but may do so if they choose. The score for a forfeit
shall be listed as a 1-0 Loss by forfeit.
- TIE BREAK CRITERIA:
- If multiple teams have the same record at the end of the regular season, the following tie break criteria will be used.
- Head to Head
- Goals Against (see forfeit rule)
- Coin Toss
- In case of a tie break scenario and a team has a forfeit, because goals against is used as a tie break criteria, the average goals against in all games played with the exception of a forfeit will be counted toward the overall goals against.
- NO GAMES WILL BE RESCHEDULED DUE TO WEATHER
CANCELLATIONS.
- Every player must wear all of the proper equipment. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS!! Failure to have proper equipment means the player does not play until they have all the required equipment. Mouthguards can be purchased at the front desk for $2.
- There is no hitting nor body checking. Minimal pushing while playing defense and/or a ground ball is acceptable. However, all players must play the ball versus looking to hit or make contact with another player. If a person is playing the body versus the ball first, blow the whistle and call a push or interference immediately to ensure no one gets hurt.
- Anyone body checking gets a MANDATORY 3 MINUTE NON-RELEASABLE PENALTY - NO EXCEPTIONS. If it is felt that the hit was intentional and/or extreme the official can and will eject the player from the game.
- There is no pushing or hitting out of bounds. Anyone who pushes or hits someone out of bounds, REGARDLESS OF SEVERITY, is to serve a 3 minute non-releasable penalty. Along the 5 foot perimeter of the field stick checks only
- There is no out of bounds when it applies to a player. If a player has the ball and steps out of bounds they do not lose possession. Only if the ball goes out of bounds does the out of bounds rule get applied. This is done purposely to be consistent with the no hitting and/or pushing out of bounds or into the net. If a player cannot step out of bounds there should be no temptation to make body contact with a player on the sidelines.
- Substitution is done on the fly. NO HORNS OR STOPPAGE OF PLAY other than in a man down situation. If a coach subs while the other team has the ball and an advantage is experienced, it is not the official's responsibility to stop play.\
- Any player, coach and/or parent that is verbally abusive to anyone participating in the game or on the sideline is to be warned, penalized and ejected if the behavior does not cease.
