GOALKEEPING

Goalkeeping is a position often neglected in team and academy training programs, but is a crucial position, often making the difference between winning and losing. SONESOCCER is pleased to have Mark Woodward as a dedicated goalkeeper coach, who focuses on working with players in this unique position and with their specific training needs. Mark is the goalkeeping coach of a number of clubs and also organizes the college GK showcases for MAPS/MSSL. He provides the technical, physical and psychological preparation necessary for the goalkeepers he works with to perform at their highest possible level on a consistent basis.

Areas covered include (but are not limited to):

1. Basic handling techniques
2. Diving – speed, technique, body shape
3. Attaching crosses – catching, punching
4. Distribution
5. Organizing a defense
6. Closing down angles
7. Kicking
8. Improving reaction time

• 6 week program Thursdays
• 1.5 hour session
